Seasonal influenza vaccinations in patients under the age of 18

Bennetts End Surgery is only able to offer a seasonal influenza immunisation to patients under the age of 18 in the following circumstances:

If they were born on or between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2015

Please note: this year, all patients in this age group will be sent their flu vaccination appointment by Child Health.  These clinics – held here at the Surgery – will run from the end of October throughout the month of November.

If they have an underlying medical condition that places them in one of the clinical risk categories identified below

Chronic respiratory disease (e.g., asthma that requires continuous or repeated use of inhaled or systemic steroids)

Chronic heart disease

Chronic kidney disease

Chronic liver disease

Chronic neurological disease

Diabetes

Immunosuppression due to disease or treatment

Asplenia or dysfunction of the spleen

Pregnancy

Learning disability

Morbid obesity (if aged 16 or above & with a Body Mass Index of 40 plus)

Carer

Please note: the patient must be at least 6 months old before they can be offered a flu vaccine, even if they are in a clinical “at risk” group.
